Antelope Island State Park is a natural safe place in Utah’s Great Salt Lake and is a home for an array of wildlife. But amidst its vast landscapes, it was a small, glowing dragonfly that truly captured my heart. It was the Wandering Glider, also called as Pantala flavescens.
This dragonfly, the Pantala flavescens, is a marvel of nature. This tiny aviator, no more than a whisper in the wind, holds the record for the longest migration of any dragonfly. Imagine a creature so light, yet embarking on journeys covering thousands of miles across oceans and continents.
There I was on Antelope Island, surrounded by the splendor of nature, when this Wandering Glider made its appearance. Its golden-amber wings shimmered as it danced through the air, graceful yet bold in its fearless flight. The dragonfly’s golden-yellow hue, a perfect reflection of the sun’s rays, seemed to paint the air with each flutter of its wings.
