Bridging Time: Mackinac Bridge perfectly describes the moment I finally saw this iconic structure in person. How many times have you seen a photograph of a famous place, only to find it even more mesmerizing when you arrive? That was my experience after driving through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and reaching the Mackinac Bridge.
So why do we sometimes stop and stare at a bridge? Perhaps it’s the vastness it unites, or perhaps it’s the sheer grandeur. As I stood there with my camera, I searched for the right angle. The bridge’s towering pillars and sturdy cables demanded respect. Meanwhile, the design blended naturally with its surroundings as I framed the shot. The green trusses stretch for miles, and because of that scale, you feel both small and connected to something greater.
While shooting, I reflected on the history of the Mackinac Bridge. It has stood tall through Michigan’s toughest seasons, keeping both peninsulas connected. Therefore, it serves not only as a bridge between lands but also between people, cultures, and experiences. In that moment, I knew I had to capture that spirit.
Ultimately, that is the beauty of Bridging Time: Mackinac Bridge. It rises beyond steel and concrete and symbolizes unity across distance. Just like the Mighty Mac spanning Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, it reminds us that we, too, can bridge any divide.
