Mesa Verde National Park may be the least scenic national park in Colorado, but it features one of the most notable and well-preserved cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloans in the late 1190s. However, these cliff dwellings reportedly endured the spirits of the ancient Pueblo people, who mysteriously abandoned the cliffs by the end of the 1200s.
One of the cliff dwellings called Long House, where there’s allegedly a cemetery nearby right at the edge of the cliff, radiates an eerie feeling to those who tour the area. Visitors can almost hear the ancient Puebloans walking among them, and, especially on windy days or nights, mysterious whispers or singing can be heard over the edge. Some accounts also suggest ghost sightings at these ancient dwellings.
