These eight Montana towns have their own gravitational pulls. Each draws visitors into a downtown built around great food and community events. Whitefish has unique restaurants that bring travelers back meal after meal. West Yellowstone houses museums about Montana’s history and wildlife. Lewistown packs over 5,000 attendees into its Chokecherry Festival each year. These eight Montana main streets leave their visitors with lasting memories.
Anaconda
The towering Anaconda-Pintler hills are hard to miss, eclipsing the horizon and much of the surrounding landscape around Anaconda. While exploring those peaks can be a fun outdoor adventure, the small town of Anaconda has plenty of activities a little closer to home. The Copper Village Museum & Art is one such destination, located in downtown Anaconda, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offering free admissions to see its art shows and rotating exhibits.
Anaconda hosts plenty of events throughout the year such as Art in Washoe Park, inviting nearly 100 local artists and vendors to the Washoe Park neighboring the two main streets. The Bighorn bottle shop and wine bar is a testament to Anaconda’s resilience. The owners purchased the 1884 building and refurbished it into a thriving local business that is now one of the must-visit locations in Anaconda.
