On a trip to the cool Rocky Mountains in the hot summer, we took a side-trip going up the Million Dollar Highway,a 25-mile stretch of U.S. 550 in Colorado that winds through the San Juan Mountains, offering breathtaking views. It's known for its challenging, narrow, and winding road with steep drop-offs, hence the name, which may refer to high construction costs or the mineral-rich fill dirt. The highway passes through historic mining towns like Silverton and Ouray.

The road twisted through open land filled with green hills and pine trees. After a while, I stopped at a quiet spot near a small ranch. A wooden fence stretched across the front, framing the wide view. The air felt fresh and cool, and I could hear birds in the distance. Above, thick clouds gathered, creating a moody sky. Meanwhile, the scent of damp earth and wildflowers drifted through the air, grounding me in the stillness of the moment.

In front of me stood the San Juan Rocky Mountains. These peaks, once rich in gold and silver, rose sharp and strong. The tallest peak, Mount Sneffels, still held snow on its rocky slopes. The greenery below looked soft against the rough mountain edges. I stood for a while, taking it all in. Afterward, I grabbed my camera, hoping to capture a glimpse of the wild, breathtaking beauty before me.

As I set up my camera, the light kept changing, casting shadows across the hills. The fence in front gave the photo a peaceful, grounded feel. Every part of the view worked together—the colors, the sky, the mountains. Altogether, it was calm, powerful, and unforgettable.
