I visited the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, located near Superior, Arizona, 45 miles east of Mesa, and had the privilege of capturing the breathtaking beauty of Ayer Lake.

Ayer Lake is an absolute gem hidden within the heart of this stunning arboretum. It isn't your run-of-the-mill lake; it's a man-made reservoir that was built in the 1920s. It covers a serene and expansive 7 acres, providing a tranquil oasis for both visitors and wildlife alike. Its calm waters reflect the vibrant greenery that surrounds it, creating a mirror-like surface that is nothing short of mesmerizing.

What truly makes Ayer Lake a standout is the rich diversity of plant life that lines its banks. The arboretum has meticulously curated a collection of trees and shrubs from around the world, and you can see this incredible array mirrored in the lake's pristine waters. From towering palm trees to delicate water lilies, the reflections on Ayer Lake create a stunning tapestry of colors and shapes.
