North of Minneapolis, about 75 miles, sits the mammoth lake named Mille Lacs (pronounced mil-Ax). In French, this means “a thousand lakes.” As the second largest lake in the entire state, this vast waterway truly feels like a thousand in itself. Standing proudly near the waterfront is the Mille Lacs Fish Statue, a monument to the lake’s most popular natural resource.
What does a statue like this say about the place it calls home? That’s what I wondered as I set up my camera in front of the Mille Lacs Fish Statue.
